Guest speaker: Kevin McClish, Fire Chief Boulder Creek
Kevin was raised in BC, attended SLV schools and Cabrillo College. He lives in BC with his wife, Diane, where they raised two children – Lindsey and Lucas. Kevin did a Q and A with the club. Answers included: 80% are medical calls; controlled burns will happen this summer at Big Basin and Henry Cowell; currently there are 34 volunteers; volunteers can last 2-20 years on the department; volunteers carry a voice pager and go to the station to get dressed for a call; when too many volunteers show up they stay at the station until the rig comes back; volunteers are paid $8 a call; property taxes pay for operations and Measure N covers new equipment; most valley departments allow warming fires but they must be attended at all times; they only paid employees are the chief and a part time secretary; the station has a dorm bedroom upstairs but it is not manned at all times; 911 calls are dispatched to the department’s voice pagers; there is a high school internship program. They meet on Tuesday, Thursday and every other Saturday. The program runs students through a program that will give them a taste of a career path as well as training them to be future volunteers. This year there were 18 student interns and 85 friends and family members came to their graduation!

Detective: Bob did a great job quizzing us on the 60s!

Drawing: Linda gave the chief the job of finding her joker. Sadly, he failed!

The meeting was adjourned at 8:33 a.m.
