Minutes of Rotary Club of SLV
January 4, 2017
 
Members in attendance: Judy, Don, Janet, Linda, Joe, Julie, Mary, Cameron, Mike, Steve, Ken, Karen, Ralph, and Carol.  Guests: Fred and Roberta McPherson, Jack Griffin (who happens to be turning 97 today!)
 
President Karen opened the meeting with the flag salute, introductions and Thought for the Day.
 
Announcements: Ken Macy was presented with the Paul Harris award. Julie announced that the SCCF awarded the SLV Ed Foundation and Rotary with a $2500 grant to purchase new AEDs for the school sites. SLV Rotary will be hosting Stop Hunger Now on February 25. Mike said he was looking for a team to help set up at 7:30 am. Rotarians will arrive at 9:00 to fill food parcels for families.
 
Guest Speaker: Roberta and Fred McPherson presented their new film on the Fall Creek Watershed. They spent the last 18 months working on the film. The film includes the history of water in Felton and beautiful scenes of the forest, animals and plants of the San Lorenzo Valley. Students from SLVHS helped with some of the filming from drones. Several employees from the Water Department were also filmed. You can view the film on line by typing in Fred McPherson. The film is also sold at Henry Cowell’s gift shop for $10.
