  • Ken reminded the group that our members have committed to voluntarily donating $5 to the Bay Area Rotacare for each missed meeting; we are quite short of our target in this!
  • Ken reviewed the Calendar of meetings for the coming 3 months, noting that I had to move out DG Ed Jellen’s visit to January 21 to avoid conflict with our visit from Partners In Service on October 22
  • Sue appealed to the group for more egg dishes for the Pot Luck New Teachers Breakfast meeting next week
  • Ken passed around the Second Harvest Barrel Wrap Sign-up sheet for 9/27, there are currently 4 on the sheet (just send an e-mail to me for this, no need to wait for the paper sheet to come around again)
  • Mike pitched the upcoming Rotary Day at the A’s and he is also working the e-mail channel for this
  • Mike announced places available for an upcoming trip to Ensenda with the BECA project, we are supporting this through our DDR funds, contact Mike
  • Mike is wanting to shift the meeting to lunch-time, Ken will take this question to the Board on 9/3 to determine how to proceed with a vote
  • The RYLA Campers stood up in front of the group and bravely went over their time at the Leadership Camp the previous week, good kids and future leaders for sure

12:30    Detective Report & Happy Bucks:
  • Ken stood in for Karen and stumped the group on 2 out of 3 questions!  He might ask those same questions again in the future.

12:45    The Featured Speaker today:
  • Jon Jankowicz, State Fish & Wildlife District Fisheries Biologist.  The current drought is having a severe effect on steelhead and salmon, already on the decline.  For example, adults and smolts are being stranded in the upper watershed, stunted growth, overcrowding, increased predation, … .
