President Karen opened the meeting with the flag salute, introductions and Thought for the Day. Linda has

 

Announcements: Stop Hunger Now is this Saturday! Please meet at New Brighton Middle School at 7:30am to help set up. Food packaging starts at 9:00 and should be over at 11:00.

 

Guest Speaker: Jacqui Rice, SLV Education Foundation President, SLVUSD School Board Member, Inside Education President and community volunteer

 

The Education Foundation was formed and filed by Susan Weber in 2002. Originally it was started to lower class size. A few years ago the Foundation received a donation to buy tablets for the HS math department. The funds are raised to support the education of all students. If you do decide to donate to the Foundation, 100% of the money goes to the school or program. Jacqui reminded Rotarians that some companies donate $1000 in recognition of 1000 hours of volunteering. All donations are tax deductible.

 

Jacqui also told us about the flight plan controversy that involves planes from SFO flying over SLV. Jacqui said we could contact her if we wanted more information.

 

Detective: Carol did a great job quizzing us on US Presidents.

 

Drawing: Brenda’s ticket was drawn for a prize of $399. Apparently, the 10 of hearts her lucky number.

 

The meeting was adjourned at 8:27am.
