Club Assembly
1. Bruce Mc Phearson, County Supervisor
Most of his calls from citizens are about either water and transportation. Here are some things happening in the Valley -
  • Library in Felton and improvements in Boulder Creek’s library
  • Measure D road repairs, buses, walkways, etc. (½ cent sales tax)
  • Traffic improvements in Felton
  • Flashing light beacon on Highway 9 – could be up to 5 in the Valley but will take time. Caltrans has been very cooperative
  • Measure G – ½ sales tax in unincorporated areas – 1) it will help bring sheriff and medical teams together to assist people (often repeat offenders) with mental health issues. 2) It will also address needs of the parks including accessibility issues, as well as other things.
  • Prop 6 is whether or not to continue using the funds (previously approved gas tax) on roads. A no vote- it will be discontinued. A yes vote- the State will continue using the funds as previously approved
  • Monterey Power-- Procurement of carbon free electricity (approved by state law in 2002) - part of the first tri-county consortium. In the first year, $16M will be given back. They will use PGE lines. It took over 150 community meetings and 4 years to get this done.
  • Felton 150 year anniversary event on Oct 6 at the Felton Community Hall
2. Ralph thanked Bruce and Mark Stone for their help on the library, as well as the water district.
3. Eric asked if the Rotary Club would consider running the Felton Scouts “books” through the Rotary Club. Currently a Felton church is doing this but they cannot accept the matching donations from employers.
4. Laurie said the district is reconfiguring the MS to include a Makers Space. The re-useable kits are $400.
5. The dictionary project will continue this year.
6. Issues forum – Rotarians to attend!
Happy Bucks: new baby, Heather is back, Oakland A’s, Bruce is here, SLV Rotary website, to be a Rotarian,
Drawing: Charlie took $5 home!
The meeting was adjourned at 8:30 a.m.
