Club Assembly today.
Minutes of Rotary Club of SLV

Members in attendance: Linda, Ken, Joe, Julie, Karen, Mary, Charlie, Ralph, Carol, Scott D, Ed, Fransizka, Sue, Cindy, and Laurie.  Guests: Eric Brown
 
President Karen opened the meeting with the Rotary Four-Way Test, introductions and the Thought for the Day.
 
Announcements: Oct 26 Annual Governor’s visit- idea to donate a brick at the library in his honor; Sadly, Karen announced that Judy’s husband, Paul, passed away last night. He had been a great man and will be greatly missed: Sept 20 at 6:00 pm housewarming / social at Ralph’s house in Felton; Does anyone want to be on the Felton Planning Committee? See Karen.

Assembly:
  • Ken presented the budget to the club – income close to $38,000     
    • $15k in breakfast expense, international - includes restricted DDF $2,600, youth services $3300 expenses
    • Club agreed to add the collection of coins to the $500 donation
    • Discussion of books for the schools – Laurie to look into this
    • Club agreed to put in a total of $600 for speaker gifts
    • MS is creating a Makers Space and there could be a need there. A card could go to each speaker saying “we gave a gift in your honor”
    • Laurie to bring back a speaker recommendation in September
  • Joe spoke about the Felton Library Project and the Nature Discover Park. Joe suggested making a $15,000 donation to the bridge from the library to the Park. Joe and Ken will come back to make a recommendation. There was a motion and second to support this but we did not take a vote.
  • Quail Hollow Park has Sept16
  • Oct 13 Barrel Wrap
  • Participation of the 150-year celebration of Felton on Oct 6. Ralph will represent us on this.
  • Authorization for the Board to make the decision to donate DDF to a water project for either Zimbabwe or India
  • Rotacare Bay Area fundraiser Aug 15 Pizza in SJ
  • Scott suggested holding off his discussion to next month’s assembly including Ken’s second part on the district website
