Today's meeting featured the club's Vocational Award presentation.  The award was presented by member Joe Griffin to Daniel Williford, California State Parks Interpreter; also here for the presentation was Elizabeth Hammack, California State Parks Interpreter III, Daniel's current supervisor.  The photos here are Daniel, Daniel with Elizabeth and Daniel with Joe.

Members in attendance: Judy, Don, Janet, Joe G, Julie, Mary, Cameron, Mike, Charles, Steve, Ken, Karen, Carol, Sue, Brenda, and Bill. Guests: Elizabeth Hammack from Henry Cowell and Edita McQuary, from the Valley Press
 
Guest Speaker and Vocational Award Recipient: Daniel Williford
 
President Mike opened the meeting with the flag salute, introductions and Thought for the Day. Charlie led the group in Take Me Out To The Ballgame
 
Announcements: Carole will schedule a Sunday clean-up of the Felton Community Hall; April 4 at 2:00 pm is the memorial for Georgie Clark; three members will be joining President Mike and President Elect Karen at the annual District Assembly; May 25 is Stop Hunger in Watsonville; The 30/30 Club is the Gates Foundation challenge to all Rotarians. President Mike shared that Gates Foundation will do a 2:1 match all Rotarian donations during the month of March. Members are asked to bring their donation to next week’s meeting. A suggestion was made to make a donation in memory of charter member, Joe Busa.
 
Detective: Cameron quizzed member’s knowledge of our neighbor, Cuba. Great fun, Cameron!

Vocational Service Recipient and Guest Speaker: Daniel Williford
 
Joe G. kicked off the presentation with an introduction of State Park Employee,
Elizabeth Hammack, who in turn, introduced Daniel Williford. Daniel was nominated for this award because of his enthusiasm and knowledge of the park. Elizabeth honored Daniel by sharing several stories about his work at Henry Cowell. Daniel followed up by sharing some of his own stories, the key responsibilities of his job, and a little about his new position at Pt. Lobos and virtual field trips. Several Rotarians commented on what an inspiration Daniel has been and shared that they would miss him at Henry Cowell. Daniel said, “Its really fun to interact with the world because the world does come to Henry Cowell State Park!” President Mike presented Daniel with a framed certificate of appreciation.
 
Drawing: The pot is over $700! Joe’s ticket was drawn but unfortunately he did not draw the joker. (Shock alert: A VIP called out that Joe that he was a loser!)
 
The meeting was adjourned at 8:25 am.
