Today's speaker is Joe Eckhardt of the SLV Alano Club. Karen also announced the SLV Rotary Social March 6 at Casa Nostra. Also announced is the upcoming District 5170 Conference at the Boardwalk, May 6 & 7.

President Karen opened the meeting with the flag salute, introductions and Thought for the Day.
Announcements: Bring socks for MCR. Mario’s wife is having a baby boy today! Bring small gifts for a baby basket. Monday night is a social at Casa Nostra. Board meeting is today. District Conference is May 6 and 7. The conference is free you only pay for the meals. This year’s conference is at the Cocoanut Grove. March 27 is our computer give-away. This year the BECA trip will take place on September 9.
Guest Speaker: Joe, Alano Club
Joe spoke about Alano, a Safe and Sober Club in Boulder Creek. This Club is a place to go when you are struggling with sobriety and operates out of the old Video 9 store. Alano works with probation department to help inmates as they leave jail. They staff a meeting room and they serve food there too. Narcotics Anonymous meets at the same place on Thursday nights.
They also collect used tools to send to Africa where kids are then trained to use the tools. The projects the kids make are on display in the meeting room and are for sale. Everything is made from recycled materials.
It has been a challenge to keep the program running. Alano has been operating for 7 months. They may move to a new location in Felton.
Alano is a worldwide organization and is affiliated with Alcohol Anonymous.
