The meeting this morning featured speaker Susan Willats, Executive Director of the Community Music School. Susan is both an alum and former staff member of UC Santa Cruz, having worked there for 32 years before retiring in 2018 and she served on the board of Community Music School (CMS) for seven years before stepping into the role of Executive Director shortly after her retirement. She is pleased that CMS has just returned to in-person meetings and programming after the shutdowns of the covid pandemic. She noted that the recent passing of Proposition 28 in the 2022 election (providing additional funding for arts and music education in public schools) and that CMS has been able to take advantage of this.
