Announcements:

December 15th          Science of Leadership event, LG Lodge-- sign-up
Dec 21                       Holiday Party at Joe and Linda’s 5-8pm Bring a side dish

Dictionary deliveries will be after today’s meeting. It was suggested that next year we pick a club assembly date and after that meeting we label the dictionaries and then deliver them to the schools. That way Steve will only need to transport the dictionaries once.

Cindy read the obituary for Jim Sikora and the service is today at 1 PM at St. John's Catholic Church in Felton, CA.

We all threw socks and gloves at Mike to “Sock it to the President” and they will be donated to MCR.

Janet reported on the Children’s Holiday Shop and everyone had a fun day. Thank you cards were passed around to sign. One card was to Justin Acton of Boulder Creek Pizza & Pub for donating the pizzas and one to Greg Tymm of K-Mart for donating the filled stocking, cookies and water.

Ken reminded the club that the holiday fundraiser at the December social would be to Butte County Camp fire victims. Donations can be written to the Butte County North Valley Community Foundation (to be tax deductible) or to the SLV Rotary club and given to Ken who will forward the checks to the Foundation.

Mike reported that the Grey Bears Brown Bag distribution would start on January 11th in Boulder Creek and Ben Lomond.  Sign up sheets for each location were passed around to determine who would be interested in helping in each location.

Janet showed the SLV Rotary sign and banner samples to the club.

Janet asked the interest in a service project at Valley Churches food pantry in January and the club was very interested in participating.

Sue was detective for Julie and challenged us with shopping questions.

Club Assembly:

Alternate meetings
Karen reported that at the District level, they are very excited for the SLV Rotary to implement an alternate meeting time and location as a way to increase membership.

Janet reported that Scopazzi’s would donate the room and the idea was to have evening meetings on the second and fourth Thursday’s of the month starting in February. The time would be TBD (6-7PM or 6:30-7:30PM) and attendees would purchase their own drinks or meals and there would be no cost to our club.

The alternate meetings would be in addition to the regular breakfast meetings at Casa Nostra. The goal is to allow for membership to those who are unable to attend a breakfast meeting at 7:15 AM.  Those members would attend 2 evening meetings, a service project and social, for attendance requirements.

The alternate meetings would start in February and run through June, and then would be re-evaluated.

The club was receptive and information on the meetings will be advertised to garner interest.

Lacy J. Dalton concert in partnership with SV Rotary
The concert committee of Cameron and Scott spoke about the concert scheduled for April 14th. Concern was expressed regarding the uncertainty of the budget. There was also concern about the short time frame. Ken also reported that this was not a budgeted item and would need formal Board action to proceed. The consensus appeared to be that we don’t have enough information at this time to commit to signing contracts.

Drawing: Charlie provided a new fancy deck of cards. Scott won the raffle for $5 but didn’t pull the Joker.

The meeting was adjourned at 8:35 AM
