Teacher Housing Project: Education Housing Partners

Last year, the district hired 23 employees and most struggling with housing. Currently, the District loses between 2 and 5 teachers a year because of the cost of housing. A new Assembly Bill allows a school district the ability to work with developers to build housing for their employees. You must be an employee (teacher of staff) of the District and are given a discounted rent for 7 years. The goal is to build low cost, high quality homes.  Chris is gathering information for the school board and contacted Thompson Dorfman to see their presentation. No decision has been made to participate in the program, but along with several other Santa Cruz County districts, is looking into this. No general funds are used for this. There are no land costs because a district must use surplus sites.

Detective: Scott W did a great job with questions!

Drawing: Poor Carole! No joker

The meeting was adjourned at 8:40
