Today's speaker was Lauren Lozier. Lauren is a very active member of the SLV High School Interact Club and her family is hosting an exchange student from Spain. Lauren was able to take advantage of an opportunity to visit Spain last year and she related that experience today.

-Karen rang the bell to start the meeting
-Cameron led the pledge
-Franziska had the Thought for the Day
-Karen handed out perfect attendance for December
-Karen provided extra copies on the table of the Press Banner with the SLV Rotary Holiday shop article
-Karen told us about a very good article in Time magazine about polio
-Karen told us the Christmas party was very nice
-Board meeting to follow the regular meeting
Announcements:
January 22nd will be the Rotary social at BC Pizza & Pub at 6 PM Karen asked that Rotary members support BC Pizza & Pub for all of Justin’s support for SLV Rotary projects.
February 14th will be the club speech contest during the regular meeting time
March 6th will be the area speech contest 3:30-5:30 SLVHS Performing Arts Center
Interact Co-President Lauren Lozier was our speaker and told us about her Rotary short- term exchange to Spain.
-Scott Webb told us that the SLV Rotary club had raised enough money for the Christmas donation to send a long time camp attendee back to camp after he lost his funding. The Rotary club may meet at the camp in the summer to have a chance to meet the camper.

Tonight the RI President will be speaking in Santa Cruz. One of his goals is for every Rotarian to plant a tree. Karen will look into the possibility of planting a redwood at Joe Busa’s home as an SLV Rotary project.
Happy Bucks Many of us were happy but Jessica was especially happy announcing she will be having a baby in July!
Mary’s raffle number was called but she didn’t pick the Joker.
