Speaker: Ed Titus, Burning Man
Our very own Ed Titus has gone to twelve Burning Man events. Today Ed shared some of the secrets of Burning Man including his costume, nickname, his team of 22, and the handbook. Each year the organizers of Burning Man create a city in the Nevada desert called Black Rock City. There is always a giant Burning Man sculptor (eventually it be set on fire). Burning Man started in the late 80s at the beach. Now 70,000 participants pay $500 to attend. Grants for larger art pieces are available through the organization and the art is often burned during the event. The Tesla that Ed’s team built wasn’t burned but was placed in a park in Nevada. All of the structures and art are completely removed at the end of the festival. There were probably 300-400 art cars that drive around. Usually the art cars have three components-- room for a lot of people, a bar, and a sound system that will “blow you away”. There are at least a 1000 fire dancers the night they set fire to Burning Man!

Detective: What do Jackie Kennedy, Greg Norman and Napoleon all have in common? They were part of Karen’s quiz of the week.
