This program is an opportunity for kids to see how they can change the world. Students are encouraged to think about problems in their lives and think how they could be solved. Goals include: bringing STEM education to CA students; recognize and value kids inventions; and include students in a statewide Invention Convention.
40 teachers were trained in the local area. It’s a 10-week program for students and 52% of the participants are girls. This year, those same teachers will have students participate in the SC County Science fair (Mar. 11) and there will be a new category-- inventions. In April there will be a regional fair in SJ and winners can go on to compete at a national fair. Although this is a pilot year, Brenda and Ann set a goal to reach 1,000,000 students in 5 years! If you are interested in serving as a judge, or helping in any other way, contact Brenda at (831) 419-1135 or visit the website at www.CaInventionconvention.org
Detective: Cameron made us laugh with his questions and so many funny answers. It’s always a good way to start the day!
Drawing: In honor of Ralph’s birthday, Ann drew his number. Alas, he will have to be satisfied with the gift of 5 bucks!
The meeting was adjourned at 8:28 am.
