Karen ran the meeting as acting President
Announcements:
-Thank you to the club for the New Teacher Breakfast
-District Membership seminar is Saturday
-September 16th is the service project at Quail Hollow starting at 10 AM
-September 20th is the social at Ralph’s home
-October 4th is Avenues of Service
-October 9th is an Area 7 social at Kaiser Permanente arena 5:30-7:30 PM $5
-October 13th is the Barrel Wrap
Ken made some announcements:
-The VWC Issues Forum is September 29th at Park Hall in Felton. SLV Rotary
is a co-sponsor and Ken will provide more details from Sheila DeLany.
-CASA is having a fundraiser at Chaminade on Sept. 30th The cost is $150/person
-The following items were presented to the club members in attendance and the club had a favorable response. Ken will send an email to the Board for a vote.
-UCSC Rotaract is asking for financial help to send members to the Big West Rotaract Conference. It is $416.51 to send a member to cover the flight, housing and registration.
-The VWC is asking for annual pledges of $250 to help the AmeriCorps team.
-Speaker- Ray Gorski talked about the plans to build the Scotts Valley Performing
Arts Theater in the building that shares the Scotts Valley library.
Raffle- Karen’s number was chosen but she didn’t pick the Joker.
We ended the meeting with our motto: Service Above Self
