7:30am Announcements & Club Business
  • Project Pajamas
Julie introduced Mike Bethkey9 he’s been our guest before) who accepted the kids PJs that we’ve collected so far for the Santa Cruz Sunrise project.
  • School Supplies Project sample 8”x12” white boards
Mike brought a Dollar store version, which is quite flimsy, and may not hold up to third grader usage for very long.  When heather gets the samples she sent for, we’ll have three quality levels to chose from.
  • Ken recognized members’ perfect attendance for August: Don, Joe, Janet, Mike, Carol and Thomas.  Each was awarded a Rotary apple (not candy, cake or banana bread, alas).
  • Janet announced that the SLV High Interact Club was having their first meeting today.  Janet will be adding these meetings onto our club calendar.
7:45am
The club made do with just Happy Bucks today as Don was a wee bit late.
8:00am
Today’s speaker, Kip Tellez is on Sabbatical as Professor in the Education Department at UC Santa Cruz.  He is beginning his second term on the SLV USD Board of Trustees.  He reviewed PACT, Performance Assessment for California Teachers, a process that all newly licensed teachers will complete before receiving their certificates.  He also explained that under discussion was a similar program for practicing teachers to continue in their positions, much more controversial!
