12:05 Ken Called the meeting to order:
Attendance today 12 members & 2 guests, Carol led the Pledge of Allegiance, Charlie led the group in singing God Bless America, and Heather introduced our guests today:

- Jennifer Michelsen, SLV Water District Environmental Analyst
12:15 Announcements and Business:
- Ken recognized 4 of our members for their perfect attendance during July: Don, Karen, Mike & Carol. Thanks to you all for your dedication.
- Ken reminded the group about paying your dues. Dues for the first half-year ($100) were due during July.
- Project pajamas is still going on. Julie will be on hand next week to take what we have accumulated to Ari Symonds who is the sponsor.
- Thomas has completed rounding up speakers for September, Education month:
- 9/3, Kip Tellez, SLV School Board
- 9/17 Jacob Martinez, Executive Director of Digital NEST
- 9/24 Dr Laurie Bruton, Superintendent SLV Unified School School District
- Ken announced that we’ve collected about $600 so far toward the school supplies project. Heather will purchase a dozen sample 8”x12” white boards so we can be sure of what we purchasing for the project.
- Ken read the letter he received from Violet Smith on the amount the Redwood Mountain Faire contribution for our work on managing the parking – north of $3,000! Quite exciting. We expect to do it again next year.
- Karen announced that we have another opportunity connected with Roaring Camp – Thomas the Train is coming back for 3 weekends in October, she will work with Roaring Camp on getting us linked with that fundraiser too.
- Finally Carol announced she and Roger were observing their 58th wedding anniversary, congratulations to them both!
12:50 Detective Report & Happy Bucks:
- Karen stumped the group for the most part in quizzing us on the names of family members of our members. Lots of fun and a good fundraiser today, going to the school supplies.
1:05 The Featured Speaker today:
- Jennifer Michelsen, SLV Water District Environmental Analyst. Jen succeeded Betsy Herbert as the watershed Analyst for the district, just 4 months ago. She served for several years as the Santa Cruz County Water Quality analyst. Jen spoke of the drought and measures being taken by the district and its customers toward mitigation. We’re under a 20% reduction mandate now, and it looks like that might increase to 50% in the future.

- Next week’s meeting is back at Mt Hermon at 7:15am. We’ve been asked to try to avoid parking in the loading zone, to reserve it for those of us who need it. Otherwise, please park along the road uphill from the pedestrian bridge or in the service employees’ lot downhill from the loading zone.
