SLV Rotary Meeting
August 12, 2015
Ben Lomond Bistro
Attendance: Karen, Carole, Mary, Linda, Mike, Janet, Ken Don, Cameron, Charlie, Laurie and Julie
Guests: RYLA Speakers, Maddie, Harrison, Asia
Rotary Education: Janet shared other ways to receive credit for attendance including: another meeting, online e-club, Board meeting, Interact or Rotaract, community service, district or international meeting, Rotary fellowship
Opening: Flag, Songs, Thought for the Day, recognition of Perfect Attendance in July
Detective: Don 5 minutes—Did you know South Korea has the fastest Internet in the world?
Speakers: RYLA Student Speakers
Attended six workshops and focused on making new friends. Students were grouped into areas of interest (service, entertainment, etc). There were 211 campers. The students shared that this was so amazing and everyday it only got better. One student shared that she felt you go and are accepted who you are. You can walk up to anyone at the camp and talk to anyone and they will be friendly. The students were asked what they will bring back to SLV—“Love and Support.” Harrison shared that he found some of the kids with the worse life experiences were the happiest people in the camp. Charlie won $92 in the raffle. He added $8 to the amount and donated it back to the RYLA fund for 2016. Thank you, Charlie!!
