Minutes of Rotary Club of SLV
July 8, 2015
Members in attendance: Joe, Thomas, Janet, Don, Mary, Ken, Julie, Heather, Judy, Karen, Carol, Steve, Linda, and Mike. Guest: Cheryl Rebottaro
Visitors: Assistant Governor, Cheryl Rebottaro
Ken opened the meeting with the flag salute, thought for the day and a thank you for the parade and party on July 4th. Ken thanked Linda and Joe for hosting the event.
AG Cheryl was called upon to swear in our new president and officers. The club welcomed President Mike and thanked out-going President Ken. She did a fine job!

Then Cheryl went the extra mile to swear-in Mike’s Officers for 2015/2016: Treasurer Thomas Wynn, President-Elect Karen McNamara & Secretary Julie Haff.

During Mike’s introductory speech he commented on the following –
- Wants to foster good communication (Ken was recognized for this). Members appreciated minutes from most recent meeting and notes for future meetings, emails from President that say what we need for upcoming events
- Governor’s project – wheelchairs to Mexico
- Cards instead of marbles
- Limit Detective to 5 minutes
- Take time to prepare an informative introduction for each speaker
- Janet will be our Training Officer, giving a minute of information at each meeting
- Club members had a discussion about bringing socks to donate to MCR
- Membership – we have 20 – goal to increase to 25
- Future Vision Membership Program by District – there should be a few trainings this year
- Foundation – add one more Paul Harris Society Member ($1000 annually to Rotary Foundation ongoing) to this club. Club is light on Benefactors.
- Community service projects: quarterly. Don suggested selling coffee at the parades and Mountain Fair
- Wants to do a joint venture with the Scotts Valley Club
- Make-ups – encouraged everyone to do make-ups
- Monthly Board meetings (1st Wed. following the meeting) and Assembly 2nd Wednesday
Janet passed out flyers for Roaring Camp Thomas events. Thomas dates are July 24, 25, 26, 31 and August 1 and 2. RYLA students are coming to next week’s breakfast.
