12:05 Ken Called the meeting to order, Don led the Pledge of Allegiance, Mike delivered the thought of the day and Don introduced our guests:
- Dylan and Myranda, two of our sponsored RYLA campers
- Mary Jo Walker, Santa Cruz County Auditor-Controller, today’s speaker
12:15 Announcements and Business:
- Ken announced the fines income so far in July for the School Supplies Project is about $267; the target amount should be enough to purchase 100 8”x12” whiteboards; Heather will order two right away so we have some to show DG Ed Jellen for his visit
- The club agreed for Mike to put language in the By-Laws Update defining a Quorum as 50% +1, for both Club Assemblies and Board Meetings
- Last weekend had a good turnout for Day Out With Thomas at Roaring Camp: Carol, Charlie, Heather, Janet, Mike & Karen were there.
12:30 Detective Report & Happy Bucks: Heather raised $ with trivia “On This Day In History”; Karen celebrated her 40th wedding anniversary with $40 into the tin can! And thanks Mary Jo for the generous contribution. It’s all going to SLV school supplies.
12:45 The featured speaker today is Mary Jo Walker, Santa Cruz County Auditor-Controller. She presented a review of County Finances, both revenues and spending; the coming consolidation of the offices of Auditor-Controller and Treasurer-Tax Collector, the staffs of both offices reporting to Mary Jo; and some legislation pending that may have impacts on the county finances.
