  • Treasurer Mike handed out club dues invoices for the first half, $100
  • Ken and Janet attended the District Membership seminar the past weekend and found it quite informative.  One main take-away was in conversations with potential members it is recommended to emphasize the local aspects of the club and what the new member might gain from membership; rather than the “Big” picture of Rotary International.
  • In the area of membership, Ken assigned each member of the club the task of identifying at least one potential new member, cultivating that person and giving contact information to Charlie, our Membership Chair.
  • Mike Bethky is getting a fund-raising project going called “Flip This House For Kids”, Renovating a large estate in the Scotts Valley area to sell as a meeting/seminar facility
  • Ken announced that the August 20 meeting would be cancelled in place of the August 19 New Teacher Breakfast meeting

12:30    Detective Report & Happy Bucks: Heather used the San Francisco Giants as her trivia subject area this week.

12:45    The featured speaker today is Mark Stone, 29th District Assembly Member.  Mark gave an update of the “state” of State Government.  It is still a challenging environment, but he thinks that his “class of 2012” has found ways to work across the aisle on tough State issues
