President Mike rang the bell to start the meeting.

Announcements:
 
-RYLA is Aug. 2nd -7th at Mission Springs. It was suggested by Karen that it would be nice if club members could attend the RYLA BBQ dinner.  The date will be confirmed but it is believed that the BBQ is on Thursday, August 6th at 6:00PM. 
 
-Mike announced the SLV Rotary curse continued with Julie falling and breaking her wrist.  Also Mike announced the Rotary family had increased with Steve having a new grandchild.
 
-Ken reported about attending the Rotary Grant Seminar to learn about using the District Designated Funds.  He told us the deadline is October 31st but we should start the paperwork now.
 
-Judy told us the details about the Felton Liberty Bank robbery.  Everyone was safe and Judy became emotional about the outpouring of support from the community.
 
-Mike spoke about the BECA Communidad trip to Mexico which is scheduled for Thursday, September 3rd – Sunday, September 6th.  At a cost of $189 round trip airfare, $60 transportation and hotel cost.  Mike and Joe will be participating and possibly Julie.
 
-Janet collected Thomas the Train Engine volunteer forms and commitments for the $50 opt out from the club members. 
 
-Karen announced that on Monday July 20th there will be a fundraiser for Mt. Parks at Discretion Brewery from 11AM-8PM.  A percentage of beer sales will be donated to Mt. Parks.
 
-Cameron passed along a hello from Bob Fuller.

-Heather was detective and had questions about Pluto
 
Club Assembly
 
-Mike reported that Thomas as treasurer will be adding the raffle ticket cost to the invoices which may be going out next week.
 
-Steve was not in attendance for the discussion of the Felton sign and he was to have contacted the Eagle Scout about the progress of his project.  The yellow A-frame sign reappeared this morning.  Joe from Ben Lomond Market found it behind one of his buildings. 
 
-Don spoke about an idea for setting up a table to provide coffee at various events in the future, as a Rotary fundraiser.  He had noticed during the Boulder Creek parade that there was no coffee available in the staging area.  This idea may work in the mornings of the RMF and the Felton Remembers parade as well.  We may be able to work with local businesses to purchase coffee, to “keep it local.”
 
-Ken was asked to report on the Redwood Mountain Faire meeting he attended and he said they weren’t ready to release numbers yet and he will report next week.
 
-Mike reported that the missing $1000 to the District Foundation written by Joe and Linda had been found.
 
Topics
 
-Breakfast options-after discussion it was decided that we would alternate between the  $10 burrito and $15 buffet each week and Thomas would bill members accordingly.
 
-New Teacher Breakfast-Monday, August 17th at the District Office at Quail Hollow.  Start time will be between 7 and 8 AM. 
*This will be our Rotary meeting for that week in August and our regular meeting on August 19th will be cancelled.
 
-Gil Gunn Day- Wednesday, July 29th   It will be Gil and Marge’s 75th anniversary on July 30th
Mike has confirmed with Marge and Gil that they will attend the meeting on the 29th
Ken will contact Ron Sekkel to invite him to that meeting and to get contact info for other Rotarians to attend. 
 
Heather will take the lead and look through the binders Ken brought that tell the story of the SLV Rotary club’s history.
 
After discussion it was decided that the club members would provide money to purchase a bouquet of flowers, a gift certificate to Shadowbrook and provide chauffeur service.  Joe and Linda agreed to chauffeur them to Shadowbrook. 
 
At that meeting, it was agreed that the buffet would be served.
 
It was suggested that each member donate $10 to help cover the costs.
 
-Mike handed out the new Rotary pins for his year.
 
-Mike spoke briefly about a project that was presented at the President’s meeting that involved cleaning up Chanticleer Park in Santa Cruz.  It was agreed that the club would feel better with service in the Valley and Mike will not follow up regarding that project.
 
-Judy Anderson spoke about a possible project of cleaning the headstones in Felton Cemetery sometime in the future.
 
Raffle
 
Sarah picked Mike’s ticket and Mike pulled a clear marble.
 
Mike rang the bell while saying the Rotary motto of “Service Above Self”
