- Ed Jellen’s Roast & Toast is set for July 15 at Saratoga Springs
- Cheryl passed on a DVD of the District 5170 speech contest, the contenders at this level were very impressive and the DVD will be useful in working with our contestants next year.
- Ken reviewed the updated May and June calendar summary, it’s posted as a download file on our home page.
- Eric Hammer will visit the club next week to preview the Redwood Mountain Faire and our Grant Group job of Internal Traffic Control.

7:55am Speaker Dave Mills, Executive Director of Valley Churches United Mission
Dave has been the Executive Director of the VCUM organization for about 9 months. He has developed a set of 5 measurable, achievable strategic objectives: 1) build up the volunteer net, they’re getting older and younger ones are targeted for recruiting; 2) tune operations to move beyond emergency relief, less hand-outs and more improvement outcomes; 3) put resources where they have the broadest impact for the families in need, improve meshing of operations with other outreach groups in the valley; 4) stabilize and improve the financial resources, a better investment strategy, aim for establishing an endowment; 5) build the leadership team for less reliance on a single personality.
