7:55am            Program – Speaker Amanda Robinson
  • Amanda is working on the program to get National Monument Status for the former Coast Dairies property north of Davenport.  The proposed National Monument is 9 square miles in size, has 500 acres of first growth redwoods and has been closed to the public for the past 100 years.  The program Amanda is working on proposes allowing passive day-use by the public with appropriate trails and roads installed.  There is a target of October 2015 for Presidential designation.  Although there is not much opposition to the proposal, we had some conversation around “just leave it alone”, leave the gates in place not allowing any more human use.
