California Grand Jury
Wayne Tanda

If you ever wondered about the Grand Jury the shroud of mystery will be lifted by this year's Santa Clara Grand Jury Foreman, Morgan Hill resident Wayne Tanda.  He will give you an insider's view of a Juror's service to the community, the secrets they have, the policy makers they meet, the places they visit, the things they learn, and the friendships they establish.  It may just be the perfect opportunity for a Rotarian, who can make the time, to have a one year experience that will be meaningful and long remembered.

Wayne Tanda is the Foreperson of the 2016-17 Santa Clara County Civil Grand Jury.  It is one of his commitments to serve the community that also includes being the Chair of the Morgan Hill Planning Commission, an adjunct professor in the College of Engineering at San Jose State University, a volunteer mentor at the City of San Jose, a member of the Japanese American Citizens League and a supporter of the Sobrato High School athletic program.  He is also a principal consultant in the firm Municipal Resource Group and provides expert witness services to public and private entities.

Prior to his "retirement" 6 years ago, Wayne served over several decades as the General Manager of the Los Angeles Department of Transportation, the Director of the Monterey County Resource Management Agency, and the Director of the Department of Transportation for the City of San Jose.

Wayne has Bachelors and Masters degrees in Civil Engineering and a Master Degree in Public Administration.  He and his wife, Diane, have been residents of Morgan Hill for nearly 40 wonderful years.
