This workshop is open to all members of the Rotary Club of Morgan Hill. At the 2016 (triennial) Council on Legislation, RI approved sweeping changes to the Rotary International Standard Club Constitution, which is incorporated by reference into the bylaws of our (and every other) Rotary Club. Among these changes to the Standard Club Constitution are the rights for each club to do any or all of the following by appropriately amending its Club Bylaws:
- Have regular meetings less often than once each week, provided that the club meets at least twice each month;
- Have additional "kinds" of memberships other than just the traditional: "active" members and "honorary" members, provided that all members of the club (of every kind) must continue to be: "adult persons who demonstrate good character, integrity, and leadership; possess good reputation with their business, profession, and/or community; and are willing to serve in their community and/or around the world"; and
- Modify or even eliminate any or all current attendance and/or make-up requirements.
The Membership Committee has been tasked with considering these options and presenting a report to the Club's Board of Directors for action. The Board of Directors will then decide what (if any) proposed bylaw amendments will be presented to the full Club Membership for a vote.
If you want to be involved in this very important process, please attend the Membership Committee Workshop on Saturday, February 25, from 9:00 am to 1:00 pm. If you have any questions, please contact Membership Director Jerry Dommer.
Yours in Rotary,
Randy Toch
