Past District Governor Russ Hobbs will speak on the work and importance of The Rotary Foundation (TRF),

Russ Hobbs Bio

Russ is a fourth-generation Santa Cruz County resident.  He graduated from Santa Cruz High in 1961, Cabrillo College in 1964, and Chico State in 1966, where he met his wife of 54 years, Mary Ann.  Upon receiving his bachelor’s degree, he entered the United States Army and attended Officer Candidate School at Fort Eustis Virginia.  Russ was commissioned a Second Lieutenant in 1967 and served in Korea (where he and Mary Ann were married), and later the Presidio of San Francisco, before getting out of the Army in 1969 as a First Lieutenant and beginning his career with Allstate Insurance. 

Russ owned an Allstate Insurance Agency in Sunnyvale until he retired after 40 years in the insurance business.  In 1982, he was asked to join Rotary, and served in many capacities at the Club level including Club President of the Sunnyvale Club in 1995 when Dwight Perry was Governor.  Russ retired from Allstate in 2006 and he and Mary Ann moved to Santa Cruz. 

At the District Level, Russ has served as Chair of the Scholarship Committee, Membership Committee, and The Rotary Foundation (TRF) Committee as well as serving as an Assist Governor and District Governor in 2006-07.  Currently, Russ is an Advisor to District Governor Richard Flanders. 

Outside Rotary, Russ served on the Santa Cruz Symphony Board for three years, and is currently on the Salvation Army Board, and the Administration Committee of Trinity Presbyterian Church.
