Eagan Rotary Honors Public Safety Officers of the Year
Rotarians recently hosted their annual Public Safety Officer Recognition Program honoring outstanding local police officers and firefighters for their exceptional service, leadership and commitment to the community. This longstanding tradition celebrates the dedication of Eagan’s public safety professionals who go above and beyond to protect and serve.
Eagan Police Chief Roger New proudly recognized Detective Chad Clausen for his exceptional service and dedication to the community. Hired in 2010 as a patrol officer, Clausen transitioned to the Investigations Unit in 2021 where he served as a School Resource Officer. In this role, he worked tirelessly to ensure the safety and well-being of students while fostering strong relationships within the school community. In addition to his work in the schools, Clausen is a firearms instructor and member of the Tactical Team, further demonstrating his commitment to public safety.
Detective Clausen’s impact extends well beyond the classroom. He has collaborated with victims, educators, prosecutors, policymakers and media to advocate for legislative and policy changes designed to protect students and prevent victimization. Supported by his wife Eleanor and their two sons, Everett and Hendrik, his dedication to serving others remains an inspiring example of leadership and care.
Fire Chief Hugo Searle praised Firefighter Eric Purves who has built a distinguished career defined by dedication, leadership and service. Beginning in 2012 with the Apple Valley Fire Department, Purves has earned a reputation as a mentor and role model with an exceptional work ethic. His passion for professional growth and for developing the skills of others has had a lasting impact on countless firefighters.
Beyond his daily responsibilities, Purves serves on the Dakota County Special Operations Team with a focus on rope rescue, advancing his expertise through specialized training in Minnesota and Florida. Off duty, he is a devoted husband and father who enjoys outdoor adventures with his wife Taylor and their two children, Graham and Adalynn.
