Polio Plus Pilgrimage:   President Denise Dixon-Basil (left) accepts a Polio Plus certificate from traveling Rotarian Colleen Bonadonna at our Dec. 2 meeting.  Colleen has an ambitious goal: visiting 200 Rotary Clubs in 200 days to raise funds for the $200 Million Polio Plus Challenge.  Colleen, a West Point (Va.) Rotarian, visited Tysons Corner on Dec. 2 and spoke about eradicating polio once and for all.

There are still several pockets of polio around the world, she said, plus the constant threat that polio will recur in countries where it has been eradicated and vaccinations have stopped.
Colleen has visited more than 70 clubs since she began her travels on Oct. 1.  She asks clubs to waive the meal cost, and then donates an equivalent amount to The Rotary Foundation in the club's name.  You can read Colleen's blog of her adventures at 200clubs200days.blogspot.com.
