ROTARY CLUB OF TYSONS CORNER
NEW MEMBER INTEGRATION ACTIVITIES
 
Get to know your assigned mentor who will guide you, our new member, through a number of activities designed to familiarize you with our Club, our District, and Rotary International.  Being an active and involved member will add to your enjoyment of Rotary!  (The Club should assign a mentor to each new member.  The mentor may be, but is not required to be, the person who sponsored the new member.)
  • Strive for 80% attendance for the first three months as a new member.
  • Attend another club’s meeting (can use this as a make-up to fulfill above attendance).
  • Serve as a Greeter four times. (The new member can stand with Sergeant-at-Arms so he can introduce the new member.)
  • Give a Classification Talk.
  • Participate in a Club activity (social event, fundraiser, alternative meeting, Club Assembly, etc.).
  • Submit a very brief bio to Tower Talk editor to include in the bulletin by way of introduction to the rest of the Club.
  • Have photo taken for the Club directory.
  • Visit Rotary Club of Tysons Corner website (login and password are supplied by Club).
  • Visit District 7610 website, sign up for an account, and update profile.
  • Visit Rotary International website, sign up for an account, and check profile.
  • Attend a Fireside Chat (no time requirement, since they are held irregularly).
  • Attend a Board meeting (no time limit since they are held once a month).
  • Attend a District function and/or training session (no time requirement – whichever comes first and is most convenient).
  • Meet with the Club’s Rotary Foundation Chair or Board member to learn about our Club Foundation and the RI Foundation.
Additional activities assisted by mentor (no time limit):
  1. Know how to find the Club By-Laws.
  2. Know how to find the District Newsletter – Delivered by e-mail once a month.
  3. Know how to find the Foundation Newsletter – Delivered by e-mail once a month.
  4. Read a Rotary Booklet such as: “Rotary Basics,” “The ABS’s of Rotary,” “A Menu of Service Opportunities,” “The Rotary Foundation Quick Reference Guide” (Club will provide).
