Barb and Charlie Clemmons, who started the Books for the World program in the Houston area 12 years ago, will be the special guests at the Million-Pound celebration on January 30th.  The Clemmons are the catalyst behind the success of this international literacy program.  Charlie and Barb are both Past Presidents of the Seabrook Rotary Club, and Charlie is Past District Governor for the Houston District.  Their tentative schedule is to arrive in Madison on Saturday, January 28th, and they will be staying with the Dombroskis until they leave on Tuesday.

Charlie and Barb have been personally supportive of the Wisconsin Operation, and the Houston-area Rotary clubs along with The Second Wind Foundation contribute about $10,000 for each semi-truck load of books that we ship to cover the international part of the transportation expense (about $60,000 for Wisconsin in 2011).  The January 30th celebration is a great opportunity for our club to personally thank them, and we should make every effort to get 100% turnout from our club.

Because the January 30th event will be brief and not conducive for conversation, we are considering hosting an open house for Barb and Charlie on Sunday afternoon.  We hope the club members will share our enthusiasm for this visit because neither the Wisconsin program, nor the international program would not exist if for these two Rotarians.
