Lobsterfest 2018

For the sixth straight year the Rotary Club of Brentwood Bay Foundation, the Saanich Peninsula Community Foundation and the Brentwood Bay Rotary Club have partnered for a “Lobsterfest” community fundraiser that is being held on June 2, 2018 at the Mary Winspear Centre in Sidney.  Previous years’ events raised needed funds for both Foundations and enabled the Rotary Club to support some incredible local organizations while having a great time eating messy lobster and socializing with our friends and members of the community.  Tickets to attend the event are $80 each and they come with a partial tax receipt issued by the Rotary Club of Brentwood Bay Foundation after the event.

The two Foundations focus on supporting of the members of the Saanich Peninsula community.  Through its grants program, the Saanich Peninsula Community Foundation supports activities in the areas of health and social services, arts and culture, education, conservation and in recreation which benefit the residents of the Saanich Peninsula.  The Rotary Club of Brentwood Bay Foundation raises funds to help to relieve poverty in the region of Victoria, British Columbia (and in particular, the Saanich Peninsula) by providing baskets and hampers to families in need; advance education by providing scholarships and awards to students in the region and; by providing schools in the area with books, equipment and other educational aids.  Both Foundations support registered charitable organizations.  The Brentwood Bay Rotary Club has similar local purposes, supports national and international communities and is also able to give raised funds to non-registered local charitable organizations.

This year the Rotary Club’s share of the silent auction proceeds will be donated to the Central Saanich Seniors Centre Association in Brentwood Bay and used to purchase a commercial grade dishwasher. This will contribute to their upgraded kitchen so they can serve meals to their members and provide rental facilities for the local community.  Find out more about this wonderful organization at www.centralsaanichseniorscentre.org.
