Yarmouth Rotary contributed to the opening of a neonatal and maternity ward unit in Bulgaria.
In January, one of Rotary's founding members, David Kitchen, traveled to Petrich, Bulgaria to attend the opening of a much-needed neonatal and maternity ward. The Rotary Club of Yarmouth is one of several in Maine that partnered with the Rotary Club of Petrich, Bulgaria to raise money for a ward in the town in a southwestern province of the country. In all, over $71,000 was raised for equipment, supplies and training. This will allow for local diagnosis and treatment rather than costly travel to the capital, Sofia, which is two hours away.
