ATI Physical Therapy and the Rotary Club of Ann Arbor North are proud to present the first annual Phil Zepeda Invitational Golf Tournament on Saturday, May 30 at the Polo Fields Golf and Country Clubs, 2955 Packard Road, Ypsilanti. The Martin Family Foundation has graciously agreed to sponsor the luncheon and the dinner is sponsored by Phil Zepeda of Raymond James and Jeff Crause of Edward Jones. Peg Windsor, Abbey Park at Mill River and Key Bank are also sponsors this year. There are a just a handful of sponsorship opportunities available, better grab one 'cause this group moves quickly!
NOW is the time to register your team and reserve your dinner. Please be considerate and make arrangements for your participation before the day of the event. Matt and Keith need to provide a count by next Thursday - the event is only one week away!
As a reminder:
Registration for the event opens at 8:00 am with a shotgun start at 9:00 am and includes 18 holes of golf with a hot dog, chips and soft drink at the turn. The steak dinner honoring Phil Zepeda takes place at approximately 2:00 pm and individual dinner tickets are available for $45 per person. Fun and fellowship also includes great prizes and a 50/50 raffle and your donations of gifts and services are welcomed and appreciated.
Fees are $100 per player with a package deal of $500 for your team of four and a hole sponsorship - a savings of $50.
Flyers and brochures are available at our meetings and are also available for download through the documents section of our Club Runner website. The committee would also be happy to mail flyers to friends, family, neighbors, vendors and fellow golfers at your request. $1000 to the University of Michigan Comprehensive Cancer Center Helping Hands Fund
$1000 to the University of Michigan C.S. Mott Children's Hospital Child and Family Life Program
Our club will be co-sponsoring a Rotary Youth Exchange student with Ann Arbor West this year. A2W has secured housing for two students this year: Maria Costa from Brazil and Ayumi Vlaviat from France. Ayumi's elder sister Maiko was also a Rotary Youth Exchange student.
We also spent a considerable amount of time discussing our First Annual Phil Zepeda Golf Outing on May 30. Here is a list of needs for this event:
1. MORE golfers. We are two teams short of our goal - if you are planning to golf and have not signed up yet, now is the time to get 'r done, Golf is $100 per player, Foursome Plus Hole Sponsorship is only $500 (a $50 savings). If you have already signed up to golf, take a moment and reach out to five friends and invite them to spend the day playing with us or joining us for dinner ($45).
2. RAFFLE prizes or cash contributions to purchase larger items like a television, iPad, etc.
3. SPONSORSHIP we are still looking for Hole Sponsors ($150) and a handful of other sponsors as well.
4. VOLUNTEERS for the day of the event. If you are not golfing, we hope that you will join us by staffing a contest, preparing for the dinner and selling raffle tickets.
The first work day this past Thursday May 14 - was a resounding success. New Member Bob, Butterfly Bob (Greenough), Eric and I made it out. The front three smaller beds are cleaned out. The south east wing looks pretty good. The other three wings had significant progress made. We also trimmed growth from around the back of the sign.
The work done by the various groups last year really helped this years prep. We need at least one more cleanup day and we can be ready to plant.
The trumpet vine is leafing out all the way to the top of it's "trellis". Maybe it will flower this year! Butterfly Bob's handyman son came out looking at fixing and painting the trellis in the front.
Please let me know your optimal times to work at the Garden. I am flexible. I will let you know the next work days.
