Charlie Incalcatera

Co-Chairperson, Rotary Camp Neidig Committee

Charlie is a general dentist from Bethlehem.  He lives in South Whitehall and has three adult sons, one grandson (turns 1 on 3/16), and two step-daughters with four step-grandchildren.

He has been a Rotarian since 1985, first with the Bethlehem Rotary Club and then he was the Inaugural President of the Bethlehem Morning Star Rotary (1989). He's been on the Camp Neidig Committee since 1986 and the Committee's Co-Chair with Wendy Body from the Allentown Rotary Club.

As for Camp History, we are really the very first Rotary Youth Leadership Award program in the world, though we have never promoted it nor been recognized by RI as such.  The first camp was held in 1950 in Green Lane, PA  when we were District 245. In the early 1960s when 245 was split into what is now 7430 (and 7450, Philadelphia area) we named the camp after Joseph Neidig.  He was the District Governor in 1950 who started the camp, and was the Superintendent of Schools in Quakertown.   At first it was an all male camp, primarily focused on sports.  As the years progressed, we started adding leadership training.  In the later part of the 1980s, when women were admitted into Rotary, we became a co-ed camp. We generally have over 110 students each year, although last year we ended up with around 89 due to coming out of the pandemic.

We are more interested in quality students who will get the most out of this opportunity, rather than quantity.  Around 100 students is ideal, but we can accommodate more than that.
