The Rotary Clubs of Brockville shared in a meaningful Remembrance Day dinner event hosted by the Lyn United Church. At the beginning of the meeting, M/Cpl Madigan reminded everyone of the importance of the support provided to CAF members by their families. Following his remarks, he presented a special Family Medallion to a representative of the Lyn United Church. Poems for reflection were recited by students Kennedy Madigan and Adley Melchers. Our main speaker was Declan Melchers. Earlier this year, Declan was chosen as a Peer Mentor with the "We Were Here" group. The group travelled to France, specifically to the Normandy Region, to explore WWII battlefields where the Canadian, British, and American forces saw action. The group was also assigned to repatriate a Canadian soldier's watch that was found at the crash site where his plane was shot down. Declan shared his incredible experiences and reflections with an appreciative crowd. All present also appreciated a nutricious meal prepared by the Lyn United Church caterers.
