Rotary Club of Brockville members were treated to an amazing Classification Talk from our own Rotarian Louise Huneault. Louise highlighted her remarkable journey and numerous personal and vocational achievements that have taken place across the globe. Louise described herself as a “nurse turned entrepreneur.” Her educational background includes her Bachelor of Science in Nursing, Masters Degree in Education, Le Grand Diplome (Paris) in Cuisine and Pastry, Certificate in Food Security from Toronto Metropolitan University and Certificate in Nutrition Science from Standford University. She has lived in Africa (Senegal), France and Switzerland and travel has taken her to many places around the world.
Her nursing career has seen her in general medicine (bedside nursing) and also in the nursing discipline of diabetes, where she eventually became Director of Diabetes Centre, Saskatoon, and then Director of Diabetes Programmes in Toronto.
The entrepreneur side of Louise has seen her enjoy much success in the start-up of a US company in Canada where she was an account manager and in Integrated Healthcare Communications Inc. in Toronto.
With Louise’s interest in and love of cooking she has been involved in recipe development, a website with recipes and videos, cooking classes and media development.
Louise described herself as a “corporate geek” and this stage took her to Switzerland where she was Director of Client Services for a medical communication company for three years, and then to another Directorship position in Milan, Italy.
Now living in Brockville, Louise sits on the Board of Directors for the Food Bank and she is helping the Arts Hub with the development of a new kitchen. Along with her very adorable dog, Louise is involved in Therapeutic Paws which involves pet visitation to palliative care patients.
Louise was introduced by Jan Risberg and thanked by Marla Gilliland. The members present were also thrilled to have a taste of Louise's cookies from her new Sweet E'Nuf business venture.
