ROTARY FOUNDATION - EVERY ROTARIAN EVERY YEAR EREY

This is the third in a series of short descriptions of Rotary Foundation’s Areas of Focus for the weekly newsletter.  The six areas of focus are Peace & Conflict Resolution, Disease Prevention & Treatment, Water & Sanitation, Maternal & Child Health, Education & Literacy, and Economic & Community Development. If you have not made your contribution to Rotary Foundation as yet for the 2014-15 Rotary year, please try to make your contribution during the month of March.  Our club goal is for every club member to make a contribution this year.

Water and Sanitation – For those of us complaining that winter will never end, here are a few facts concerning people of the world facing serious problems that won’t end without Rotarian support.  884 million people lack clean drinking water, 2.6 billion people lack access to adequate sanitation facilities, and 6000 children die daily from medical conditions caused by lack of sanitation and clean water.  Your contributions to Rotary Foundation can assist in the establishment of improved sanitation facilities and water wells.  Educational materials are provided to promote good hygiene habits.  In addition, Bethlehem Morning Star has contributed to a project in Peru for which home water filters are provided to residents of a small community to make drinking water safe.
