President's Message July 5

Since June 30 was both my final program as Program Chair and my first program as President, I will call this program “Presidents Choice”. Our own resident wine expert, Tom Bailey introduced our speaker Bob Hale, President of the Northampton Chapter of the American Wine Society to speak on “The World of Wine”.

Bob opened his presentation with Rule 1: "Only you know what you like." He offered great tips on how to extend the life of your wine by pumping out the air and sealing the bottle and that red wines should be finished in 2 days from opening the bottle. He suggested that when visiting the wine regions you should look for the wineries that produce the wines you like and inquire about tours or barrel tastings. The Lehigh Valley Wine Trail has many great wineries to visit. He recommended Central Wine Merchants and WTSO.com as great places to purchase good wines. Bob and his wife will be offering Wine and Food courses at Northampton Community College on Nov. 3^rd & 10^th.

This Week’s Meeting

This Thursday, our President Elect and Program Chair Kristian Schafer will lead a discussion on suggestions for programs in the year ahead.

Please think of interesting topics and people and let’s assist Kristian in organizing programs that are educational, interesting and inspiring.
