JAN 28 PRESIDENT'S MESSAGE
President’s Message for January 29, 2015
Our January 22 meeting was a real celebration as we acknowledged our 5K / 10K Race sponsors and awarded an $8,000 donation to Bethlehem Special Olympics (BSO). We were fortunate to have Louise Tusak and Steven Cousey attending from BSO to express their thanks and accept the donation. Louise informed us that MSR’s donation makes up about 15% of BSO’s budget.

Many thanks to Jeff Kiscka and Wayne Achey, the 2014 Race Director and Assistant Race Director, for putting on an exceptionally good race and leading us into the world of chip timing. Wayne will be the Race Director going forward and Jeff will continue to support the committee as Race Director Emeritus. Thanks also to all the 5K /10K Race committee members for all their work getting us organized for the race each year. Special thanks to Cheryl Baker and Jean Searfoss for assembling sponsor awards and inviting sponsors to our recognition meeting. Wayne has big plans for the twenty-fifth anniversary of the race in September, 2015 which might include a world record attempt – stayed tuned!
At this week’s meeting on January 29th, we will hear from Rachael Scheffler of the Lehigh Valley Hospital Network. She will tell us about the “Community Canvas” which we helped fund through a Morning Star Community Grant. Come and learn more about how our philanthropic work in the Lehigh Valley makes a difference. Over the next two months, many of our Community Development Grant recipients will be presenting their stories and these are great opportunities to invite prospective members to hear about MSR’s support for our communities.
