President's Message August 11:

Our August 7, 2014 meeting was filled with "shades of things to come" - and exciting things they are.

Our speaker, Dr. Charlie Incalcaterra, gave us the full introduction to the Mission of Mercy in Pennsylvania (MOM-n-PA) organization and the MOM-n-PA Mission scheduled for Friday September 12 and Saturday September 13, 2014. Charlie reminded us that last year's Philadelphia mission served 1,820 patients and provided about $850,000 in donated dental services. This free, no questions asked clinic is sponsored by several Rotary clubs including MSR, Downtown Bethlehem and Warrington. MSR is donating $1,500 and Warrington is the sponsor of the multi-club District Grant.

Charlie reminded us that there are many unfilled volunteer positions and demonstrated how easy it is to register at http://www.mom-n-pa.com/volunteer-information/. (or click on download on the right). "Patient Ambassadors" and "Spanish Speakers" are especially needed. Charlie also indicated that help is needed on Thursday September 11 for set-up.

Another exciting event was the introduction of Annika, our Rotary exchange student from Helsinki Finland. Annika is seventeen years old, speaks excellent English and will be attending Liberty High School. The Kolepp's are Annika's first host parents and Carl Kolepp visited our meeting to welcome her.

Remember that Tuesday August 12 is our "Libations at the Library" fellowship and prospective member event. See the event section for more information and see you there starting at 5:30 PM. I bet Ginny Wolkoff will bring Lyn Milet who was Ginny's guest at our August 7 meeting.

MSR All Hands on Deck Notice:  Please reserve Saturday September 27 on your calendar - meet us at sunup to prepare for the Morning Star Rotary Celtic Classic 5K /10 K race.

Notice to Board Members: Remember our regularly scheduled Board Meeting is this Wednesday August 13 at 6PM at Moravian Village.

If you are visiting or want to learn more about Bethlehem Morning Star or Rotary International, please contact Tom Kolepp via email at tkolepp@gmail.com or via mobile phone at 484-241-1251.

Now that an amazing "rain free" Musikfest is over, let's "Light Up Rotary". Regards. President Tom
