District Governor Linda Young visited Morning Star Rotary and shared with us her goals for the 2016/17 Rotary year. The three areas of focus are Membership, Foundation and Service.
Membership: District 7430’s goal is 100 new Members. With 43 clubs in the District this is an attainable number. Plans include forming 2 new clubs in the district in the Whitehall and Pennsburg areas. Morning Star Rotary has set a ‘stretch goal’ of a net increase of 10 in our membership.
Foundation: To commemorate the 100 year anniversary of The Rotary Foundation every Rotarian is being asked to give a minimum of $26.50 to the Foundation this year. $26.50 is the amount of the first contribution to The Rotary Foundation. A portion of the funds contributed are returned to the District for use as District Grants helping us to continue to do the great work that we do in our community and globally.
Service: Rotary Serving Humanity is the 2016/17 presidential theme chosen by RI President John F. Germ. DG Linda Young shared with the club her personal Rotary journey and her experience on a Rotaplast International project.
District Governor Linda Young was inspiring and I am proud to be serving as President of Morning Star Rotary this year. I am certain that it will be a great year for District 7430.
This week Bill Hunter will introduce 2 visiting K-12 Principals from Antigua and Barbuda. They will share with us their challenges for funding and the knowledge that only a very small percentage of their students pursue higher education.
