District Governor Nominee, Bob Hobaugh, presented his perspective on experiences at the Rotary International Conference recently attended in Hamburg, Germany.

In addition to insights on the various general sessions and the numerous breakouts, Bob covered the many beautiful examples of a large variety of architectures, cultural centers, and historical venues of significance.

 

The following recap summarizes the Conference:

We celebrated our latest multiple Paul Harris Fellows. Tom Hartzell presented and we congratulated Val Walk and Tom Kolepp on their continuing support of The Rotary Foundation.

Special congratulations to Tom as he has become a Paul Harris Society member as well.

We were very pleased Elena Helmuth was present at the meeting. Elena expressed sincere thanks for all the help and support in getting Ron back home to his family and friends.

We were fortunate to have him as part of our Rotary Club for so many years and miss him dearly.

Thank you, Elena. Please do not be a stranger and come to our meetings and events whenever possible.

 

Sue Burnett will be leaving soon for a District 7430 sponsored Rotaplast mission in Guatemala September 1 to 15, 2019. Sue will be posting a daily blog from https://rotaplast.org/blog/ hopefully starting Monday September 2^nd. In explaining a little of what is involved from an individual’s commitment this includes covering her own transportation and housing expenses. Sue grew up in a Rotary family and her father has been a Rotarian for many years. When he became aware of her going on the mission, he stepped forth and provided the needed funds to support her efforts.

We can look forward to hearing of Sue’s experiences in the near future.

 

 

Update from Butch Macri on our Rotarian Ben Tenaglia. Ben is out of the ICU and is in room 619 at St. Luke’s Fountain Hill campus. He is allowed to have visitors but his speech and fine motor skills have been impacted. The staff think with therapy he will have a full recovery. Thanks Butch.

 

 

 

Tom Hartzell presented a District Grant check for over $13,000 to Treasurer Jean Searfoss in support of the major project at Victory House.
