I hope you all had a wonderful Thanksgiving and enjoyed good food and time with friends or family. We hope to see all of you at our Live/Hybrid meeting this Thursday, November 30, 2023. Our speaker will be Marie Shior, giving us an update on the Bethlehem Emergency Shelter. This is just in time for us to sign up for our BES dates starting Monday January 8th.
Also, remember to bring your gifts or your shoe boxes this Thursday for the Children’s Gift Program.
Reminder that our First Thursday Happy Hour Social will be on December 7th at the Clubhouse Grille at the Bethlehem Golf Course on Illick’s Mill Road at 5:30 PM. Please remember to invite any potential members or individuals who want to know more about Rotary and Morning Star.
We also need to be conscious of the need to sign up as soon as possible for our Holiday Meeting on December 21st being held at the Advent Moravian Church.
We would like to give a big MSR thank you to all of our "Salute the Troops" Concert supporters. The leadership is trying to finish the final finance reports from the concert so that the Board of Directors at its December meeting can determine the amount of this year's grant to Victory House. A brief reminder to all MSR members....any members who need to submit ticket money should bring it to this week's club meeting (November 30th) or mail a check to our MSR Treasurer, Jean Searfoss at 1409 Bogie Ave., Allentown, PA 18106. Our hope is that all members will pay for their ticket allotment so that our annual grant to support Victory House can be as generous as possible.
The Women of Action team of Rotary volunteers will be returning to Kenya on our 2nd humanitarian trip January 28th for two weeks. The team will be reviewing the progress of The Rotary Foundation Global Grant at the Ngaremara Dispensary and exploring Phase II options of the project.
As part of this trip we will also be conducting additional service projects including a menstrual health project at the Ngaremara Girls Secondary School. Many of the girls that attend this school live in the area served by the dispensary. This project will begin to create an environment where girls feel supported during their menstrual cycle so they can attend classes and not miss out on their education. The project will include both distributing sanitary pads and basic education in menstrual hygiene. We hope that you will join us in supporting this project by donating to our Be The Good Fund 2.0. You may make a tax-deductible donation by clicking here.
We are grateful for your interest and support of our work in Kenya. We plan to keep you updated via email on the continuing work of the projects. You may also follow us on Facebook @MorningStarRotary
