Ask someone to join Rotary! Some of you may say "Why?" We have a good club, we have a great group of members, we've done amazing things in our community. Isn't that good enough? But if someone didn't ask each one of us to join none of this would have happened. So I encourage you to ask a neighbor, colleague or friend to join us this week at our monthly"Rotary Means Business" meeting at Artisan Wine Bar. You might just change someone's life!
In honor of November being Foundation month, the Grant Committee is running a special on Foundation points for anyone working towards their first Paul Harris award. This includes both new members and members who are not considered new.
You are a new member if you have joined the club since July 1st, 2018.
During the month of November, the club will match your Foundation donations 1:1 up to $100.
AND
Janet Kolepp, AKA, Melinda Gates, AKA, our Club President AKA District Governor Nominee, will also match your donation 1:1 up to $100.
This means that if you donate $100 to the Foundation during the month of November, you will have earned 300 points toward your Paul Harris award.
IF you are a new member (joined since July 1st 2018) it gets EVEN BETTER since, the club automatically matches your first $100. So you would in fact be at 400 points, AND if you were to donate another $100 this Rotary year (ending June 30th, the club would match that and you would be at 500 points, half way there. But DON'T worry about the math, that is our job.
How can you donate?
Couple of ways:
1. At the $2/week, as you walk into the meeting every week, you can donate any amount
2. Or you can mail your donation to Tom Hartzell at 1341 Biafore Avenue, Bethlehem, PA 18017. He will not be at many meetings in November but he will be there on the 29th.
Come and learn all about the “right arm” of Rotary with the Rotary Foundation and all of the good things happening. Opening Plenary features Keynote Speaker Julia Phelps, Rotary International Foundation Trustee. Breakouts include Foundation Update and Overview, Annual Funds, Global and District Grants, Major Donors/Endowment Fund, Polio, Peace Centers and Rotary Action Groups.

Our speaker last Thursday was Karen Achey, spouse of Wayne and parents to 3 great sons. Karen gave a brief rendition of her experiences in life bringing us to where she is now – a very active fitness instructor engaged in spin classes and sculpt classes.
Karen likes the fellowship of Rotary.
The topic of a Rotary ride for polio, conducted in Arizona near World Polio Day, and Karen responded with a couple questions and a very enthusiastic response to get local Rotarians and the community involved for next year!
We welcome Karen and pray the enthusiasm is contagious!
At the meeting Thursday morning it was suggested that I attach the form for ads; (Gayle sent to all with email) including the 'In Honor Of' and 'Patron' option. The form is self-explanatory, but if you have any questions, please ask me. My email and phone # is listed on the form, but PLEASE notice the November 1st deadline. Jean Searfoss has offered to buy me a bottle of Chardonnay if I can make it happen!!!!!!
ALSO, the concert will not be successful if the community is not aware that it is happening. I will be glad to place flyers in any location you might have to suggest. And don't forget how you can help by making sure at least 6 of your friends, family, or neighbors attend. The auditorium is rather large, so even if they don't like each other, they won't have to sit near each other.
ANOTHER THING....I see quite of few names on this email list who have their own businesses. For only $35, you can easily throw in a business card and maybe get new clientele.
AND.. most importantly: No veteran should be without a place to call home!
“Salute the Troops” Concert

What? An excellent concert by the oldest municipal band in the country, featuring patriotic and related songs.
When? Sunday, Nov. 18 at 3:00 pm
Where? Northeast Middle School’s new Auditorium
1170 Fernwood St., Bethlehem
(Parking very close, and easy access)
Why? To benefit Victory House of the Lehigh Valley and other Morning Star Rotary charities. Many of those served by Victory House are Veterans.
How can you help?
Be or find a Sponsor - ad in the concert program book.
Become a Patron (listing in the concert program book) or recognize an active or veteran member of the Armed Services with an “In Honor Of” listing. (Get the form at meetings, or from Downloads on the club home page.)
Buy (or sell) the 6 tickets (or more!) which will be given to each member by chair Gary Hartney. Adult ticket price remains $10, and a special Student rate of $5 is offered to encourage attendance.
Post concert flyers in grocery stores and anywhere else potential concert-goers might see them!
Help the day of the concert with taking tickets, ushering, etc.
Enjoy the concert with family and friends!
