NOV 17 SALUTE THE TROOPS CONCERT

Rotarians, Friends, Neighbors. & Colleagues,

Rotary’s business is mankind and its product is service. This is perhaps the best reason for becoming a Rotarian – the chance to do something for somebody else while experiencing self-fulfillment in the process.

Victory House is a not-for-profit organization committed to addressing the challenges faced by men and veterans in their transition from homelessness. They are provided shelter services and supportive resources to move toward independence in the community. Their work is an expression of their personal faith, hope, and compassion.

Combine the two purposes and voilà … you have the 11th Anniversary “Salute the Troops” concert with the Allentown Band joined by Northeast Middle School musicians happening on November 17th at 3:00 pm.

Program ads Click AD CONTRACT. Something as simple as a “In Honor of”, to a full page ad, will have serious impact on how we can help with the needs of our Victory House Veterans.

If you have advertised in last year's program, and wish to do the same this year, all you have to do is send me an email indicating "SAME"(and then send a check to the address on the form made payable to Morning Star Rotary. OR to make any changes, complete the form and follow the instructions for ad submissions.

OCT 24 VICTORY HOUSE UPDATE

We had the honor of welcoming Pat Diluzio, Executive Director of Victory House of Lehigh Valley and Kevin McCloud, US Army veteran, to learn more about the important work done to fight homelessness, overcome addiction, create a support system for veterans when they have reached rock bottom, and give them the strength to build their lives back up again. (Pat's notes are available on the website under Downloads.)

People often ask us what we do at VH ---- Telling you is easy, but seeing, experiencing and feeling what happens as VH thru the eyes of a homeless person is much more surreal. We produced a 60 second infomercial about VH recently… and here it is. The individual is a VH resident telling his story thru this brief video. Kevin McCloud

Kevin followed this with a very stirring talk of his story.

Morning Star Rotary is proud to know that our support has helped to positively impact the lives of 250+ homeless veterans in the last ten years.

OCT 31 ROBBIE DONNO RI GIFT OF LIFE

Robbie Donno is the founder of the Gift of Life Foundation which arranges and funds heart surgeries for children in developing countries. He will be our speaker on October 31 at Morning Star in the morning and will also be at the Easton Rotary Club for their noon meeting that day.

DIANE ELLIOTT JOINS GREATER GOOD!

Greater Good is pleased to announce that Diane V. Elliott, recently retired Executive Director of New Bethany Ministries, has joined our legal team. Diane’s passion is assuring that everyone has access to decent, safe housing and to competent legal representation. Diane lists her occupation as an attorney and community advocate.

Her legal background is in criminal defense, housing and environmental law. She has spent her entire life working to address the needs of those under-served and building alliances to address pressing social issues and community needs. She also has extensive experience with non-profit administration and fundraising. Read more about her professional background and her motivation for helping others.

Diane will help Greater Good enhance its representation of non-profit organizations and individuals in need of legal representation that would be otherwise unattainable, particularly in the area of fair housing, landlord and tenant, LGBTQ and other matters that adversely impact those most vulnerable in our community. We are grateful that Diane has joined the Greater Good team!
