MORNING MEETINGS ONLY

Due to our weekly Thursday morning meeting catering deadlines, it is necessary to make a decision concerning any changes to either meet as usual (live/hybrid), or to switch to virtual only by 9:00 PM on Tuesday. These decisions will be done based on best available weather forecasts.

Please check your emails and the Morning Star Rotary website (morningstarrotary.org) on Wednesdays when inclement weather is forecast for Thursday mornings.

Thank you for understanding as we try to be fair to all concerned during bad weather.

PRESIDENT'S MESSAGE
 Meeting Policy Change - Weather

Recently, our usual caterer changed their policy requiring advanced notice to cancel food delivery to avoid Bethlehem Morning Star being charged.  Currently, we are charged $350 per delivery. The current policy of waiting for Bethlehem Area School District to announce closure on the morning of the meeting will not allow sufficient time to avoid these charges. For this reason, it will be necessary to make a decision by 9:00 pm on Tuesday concerning the meeting to either meet as usual, hybrid, or to switch to virtual only. Of course, this will be done based on best available weather forecasts.

Please check your emails and the Club website on Wednesdays when inclement weather is forecast for Thursday mornings. Thank you for understanding as we try to be fair to all concerned during bad weather.

Thank you,

Rodney Conn
President

Their Story: "Classification Talks"

As part of our tradition, new members are invited to share their story with the club. Formerly known as the “classification talk,” this is a chance for us to get to know new members better. Their stories are an essential part of our club’s tapestry, and sharing it helps us understand your journey, passions, and the unique perspectives you bring to our community. We believe that every member’s story enriches our collective experience and strengthens the bonds between us. Hearing their insights and experiences will inspire and connect us, fostering a deeper sense of fellowship and collaboration.

You will have the option of joining us IN PERSON or via ZOOM. Please see Option details below:

SUSTAINABILITY
On February 13, 2025 at the Bethlehem Morning Star Rotary weekly meeting, the MSR Green Team hosted a panel discussion with three Lehigh University students, moderated by MSR Rotarian Dr. Eric Obeysekare, Teaching Assistant Professor, Lehigh University Computer Science & Engineering, Office of Creative Inquiry, entitled “In Good Hands: Lehigh University Students Discuss Sustainability”.  We heard from Paige D., sophomore majoring in Environmental Studies, Sophie U., junior majoring in Psychology and Health, Medicine, & Society, and John R., graduate student studying Catastrophe Modeling. The students discussed their perspectives on sustainability, some initiatives they are involved with on campus, and participated in a lively discussion with Morning Star Rotary members about sustainability and the environment.

STEM-YEA - DONATIONS NEEDED
**Message form Jane A. Meckes, Nazareth Rotary, District 7430 STEM-YEA Committee

Hi Everyone. Our district committee is busy planning for the upcoming STEMYEA program at Kutztown University.  I am on the committee and in charge of gathering materials. I have created two ways that Rotarians in our District can help provide items that are needed. First is an "Amazon Wish List" if you would like to purchase materials that we need. Any items purchased would be sent directly to me. Second is a recycled material list. You can help us out at no cost to you!  All you have to do is save the materials on the list and bring them to a meeting or event anytime. I already have a bin started for the items I have been collecting.

Here is the link for the Amazon Wish List: https://www.amazon.com/hz/wishlist/ls/35ZTJILB1ZGV7

Anything that you could provide would be gratefully appreciated.

Message from Rod Seifert:  Donated recycled items can be given to me at any upcoming meeting.  I will be happy to deliver them to Jane at the District Conference.
