OCT 10 CARE PATROL

This Thursday, Mary Ann Pickell will be presenting about Care Patrol. This is an organization that assists individuals and families by finding, reviewing and recommending appropriate safe alternative livingscenarios for seniors. Her services are at no cost, and she can proactively help facilitate planning and increased understanding of available options.

Please plan to join us for this important topic relevant to all of us.

Join us for the 9th Annual - Race to ZERO - Purple Pinkie 5K Run & 1 + Mile Fun Walk/Run to raise funds to END POLIO.

Let's End Polio!!

Saturday, October 12, Lehigh Carbon Community College, Schnecksville, PA, 8-9AM Registration, 9:30AM start

All Proceeds will be donated to Polio Plus and every Dollar Raised will be TRIPLED by the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation.

To sign up for the race, or learn more, visit the website at www.purplepinkie.net. You can either register online or mail in the registration form available on the website.

You don’t need to run to participate. Most people walk! It will be a fun event. Bring your family and friends. We will have awards for the race winners and also many drawings for door prizes, so both runners and walkers will be winners. We will also have great food! We will have members of the Pennsylvania Polio Survivors Network at the event to talk to participants about their experiences with polio.

Our goal this year is to raise $42,000 for Polio Plus.

On race day registration starts at 8:00 AM
The Race starts at 9:30 AM
Awards will be at 10:30 AM.
9 and under no charge.

The cost to register is:
$35 ($25 if under 18) after September 20 and on race day.

Ask Others to Sponsor You: Help us raise much more money for Polio Plus by asking Rotarians and friends who can't attend to sponsor you. Sponsor sheets and details are available on the Purple Pinkie website. Any Rotarian that sponsors a runner/walker will get credit towards their Paul Harris. If you can not attend, please sponsor our other MSR participants to help achieve our goals!

OCT 17 LIFESTYLE MEDICINE & PLANT BASED DIET

On October 17 we will be joined by Meagan Grega and Amanda Grega. They will be making a presentation to MSR about their specialty, LifeStyle Medicine and Plant Based Diet.

Being a well-seasoned carnivore, I am looking forward to learning an alternative approach.

Please join us for what will be a very enlightening presentation.

OCT 23 JANET SIPPLE LECTURE

AMPLIFY THE VOICE OF NURSING - BE RELENTLESS!

Once again we have an exciting speaker coming this year for the Sipple lecture. Robin Cogan will be speaking to the community about the voice of nursing on Wednesday October 23rd at 5:00pm in Foy Hall, Moravian College.

Ms. Cogan developed and maintains her own blog, “The Relentless School Nurse” where she brings to light important topics concerning the overall health and wellbeing of our communities (please find at: https://relentlessschoolnurse.com/ ). This blog was awarded Top Nurse Blog in 2018.

Ms. Cogan believes nursing has the ability to be more visible in these important conversations concerning community health and wellbeing through embodying a positive presence on social media. We are very excited to have this dynamic “force” share her wisdom with our community.
