July 18 Morning Star Rotary Bulletin (Jul 18, 2016)

On June 17^th- 20^th, 151 high school students attended Camp Neidig. “To see change, you need to BE the CHANGE”, Charlie Incalcaterra (District Co-Chair of Camp Neidig) stated in his closing remarks to the Campers. He asked the young leaders to look around and see a problem and invent the solution – BE the CHANGE . Rick Morrissey discussed how he works with the local high schools to identify young leaders that would benefit from the opportunity to attend Camp Neidig. Jovi Rodriguez was one of the four students sponsored by Morning Star Rotary this year. He shared how the program gave him an entirely different perspective on leadership. Upon arrival, Jovi thought that being a leader meant taking charge. He left Camp Neidig understanding that a leader knows when to listen, and when to let others step up. The experience allowed him to meet and develop friendships with different types of people who he may not have crossed paths with otherwise.

Camp Neidig is celebrating 67 years of inspiring tomorrow’s leaders. I am proud that MSR supports this amazing program!

This Week’s Meeting

This Thursday, I will review our club's budget and plans for the year ahead. It will be a year of maintaining MSR’s great traditions with new ideas on Strengthening Our Club, Enhancing Public Image and Awareness, and Increasing Humanitarian Service.

Weekly Meetings for Race

As preparations for our 2016 Rotary Celtic Classic 5K Run/Walk and 10K Run on September 24 get into full swing, the committee will be meeting weekly before the regular club meeting. Members of the Race Committee, plus anyone interested in helping with preparations, are invited to join us at 7 am each Thursday morning at Moravian Village. Hope to see you there!

Dues are (Past) Due

Morning Star Rotary Secretary Val Walk emailed the club 2016-17 Dues Notice on June 2, and the dues were due on June 30. (Either $200 for the full year, or $100 for a half year; optional donation to The Rotary Foundation.)

Thanks to members who have already paid! If you have not yet done so, please give or mail your check to new Treasurer Jean Searfoss, or mail it to her at 1409 Bogie Ave., Wescosville, PA 18106. Alternative: you can pay with a credit card via a link on our website - under Site Pages on the left side of our home page, click Pay Dues Online Here. Note: A small fee is added to cover the processing costs we are charged.
