The Lehigh Valley Arts Council (LVAC) is the central voice for the arts, ensuring that their value and impact are a key part of the region’s focus on growth, enrichment, and quality of life. Through community partnership, it continues to support our local arts community through arts advocacy, research, professional development seminars, and cooperative marketing initiatives.
Randall Forte, the Executive Director for the LVAC, joined us last Thursday to speak about how they are implementing a yearlong celebration commemorating the 25th Anniversary of the Americans for Disabilities Act through the lens of the arts. The celebration will encompass 50 different events including more than 25 performances, exhibitions, film screenings, and lectures that local cultural groups have programmed to intentionally reach people with disabilities and their families and friends.

The 9th Annual Janet A. Sipple Lectureship, “Homeless and Hungry: Community, Nursing, and Health Care’s Influence” is on Wednesday, October 21st5:30 pm at Foy Hall, Moravian College Hurd (South) Campus followed by MSR fellowship at The Brick. DISTRICT 7430 NEEDS YOU. One of the best ways to become engaged in Rotary in our District is to attend The Rotary Leadership Institute, or RLI. Those who have attended past sessions have come back enthusiastic and more knowledgeable about Rotary. RLI for our District 7430 is Saturday, November 7th in King of Prussia. Please consider attending. See RLI story below. (Tuition is reimbursed by MSR truly a solid endorsement of your Board as to the importance of this training!)

Please save the date of October 19! We will be stamping and packing the Dictionaries starting at 5:30 at the Bethlehem Public Library on Church Street. Help is needed to stamp and pack the books, then to drop off cartons at the schools.
Distribution to third graders is planned for November 2-6, with specific date by school to be determined. In addition to a personal dictionary for each third grader, this year Morning Star is adding 1 Spanish/English dictionary per third grade teacher!

Buy (or sell) the 6 tickets (or more!) which will be given to each member by chair Gary Hartney. Adult ticket price remains $10.
Post concert flyers in grocery stores and anywhere else potential concert-goers might see them!

Bethlehem Morning Star Rotary has now opened the process for organizations to apply for aCommunity Development Grant for the 2015-16 Rotary year (7/1/15 – 6/30/16). This year's theme is Youth Programs.(The PROJECT, not the organization, needs to focus on Youth.) The total budget is $8,000, and each grant will be between $1,000 and $2,500.
Please see the Request for Proposal “RFP” document which outlines the requirements, which have been streamlined to encourage additional applications. The RFP has been emailed to members plus past and identified potential grant recipients, and is available under Downloads at www.morningstarrotary.org .
We invite organizations to submit a proposal by November 13, 2015. The requirements now allow for providing online links to the requested background information on the organization rather than requiring all to be attached to the proposal.
